Joe Ferrier Comments ERB-APA #86: A Reply

JOE FERRIER - In Jackleg Logic II you stated, "After all, Edgar Rice Burroughs was the one who wrote it, the author who had the account firsthand, from "one who had no business to tell it to me, or any other." I would like to remind you Joe the ERB mentioned above is ERB, John Carter's great-nephew, not ERB, the author, from Chicago, II. The actual process was John Carter's great-nephew getting the Tarzan story from official records of the British Colonial Office. The narrator then passed the story on to ERB, the author, from Chicago.

The Tarzan story was then edited and passed on to us. The editing, plus purposefully protecting Tarzan's identity, is why the dates don't match the storylines. I have been saying this for years. Nice of you to point out that Jack and Korak can't be the same person in an 1888 chronology. Why am I not surprised? You have now joined the ranks of John Harwood, Phil Farmer, and Alan Hanson, just to name a few, in telling us so. You have also joined their ranks by chopping up ERB's presented storyline trying to explain your changes in The Return Of Tarzan and The Son Of Tarzan. Guess what? Your chopped-up version is not the storyline presented in ERB's Tarzan series. Thank you sincerely, Joe, as well as Alan Hanson, for being a part of the Tarzan chronology discussion.
